JAKA KLUM

Born in 1992, he started his study of the guitar at the age of eight, with Professor Boštjan Andrejc at the Music School in Izola, Slovenia. He carried on his guitar schooling at the Music department of the Arts Gymnasium in Koper, with Professor Tanja Brecelj-Vatovec. He graduated his Bachelor Study with honours at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, Austria, with the professor Paolo Pegoraro. Now he studies his Master Study at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, with the professor Eliot Fisk.
 
Already as a young guitar player he achieved remarkable results at competitions at the national and international level: The Golden Award at the International Guitar Competition »Mura Guitar Festival« 2007 and 2008, the Golden Award and the First Prize at the National »TEMSIG« Competition (2009), the Second Prize at the International competition »Guitar Open Subotica« (Serbia, 2010) and the Golden Award and the First Prize at the National »TEMSIG« Competition (2012), First Prize at the International Guitar Competition José Tómas – Villa de Petrer (Youth Category, Spain 2014). In 2014 he got the »Würdigungspreis der KUG« - Prize for his achievements from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
 
He took part in several master classes with renowned guitar professors: Paolo Pegoraro, Stefano Viola, Adriano del Sal, Marko Feri, Maria Linnemann, Marcin Dylla, Roland Dyens, Marco Socias, Dušan Bogdanović, Pablo Marquez, Matteo Mela, Alvaro Pierri and others. From 2009 - 2011 he has been taking extra lessons dedicated to improve his skills with Professor Paolo Pegoraro, at the »Centro chitarristico “Francisco Tarrega”, in Pordenone, Italy.
Since the age of twelve, Jaka has been also engaged in composition, under the mentorship of Professor Ambrož Čopi. His song named »Fear« was performed by the Youth Choir of the Koper Music School at the National Competition for Youth and Children's Choirs at Zagorje ob Savi in 2006, Slovenia, while his other composition »Colour expressions« for guitar solo was performed by the author himself, with the first performance at the 2nd Biennale of Contemporary Music in Koper, 2010.
